American Legion Auxiliary Unit 109 and Natoma-Paradise-Waldo USD 399 will co-host the 10th annual Veterans Day Salute, Monday in Natoma. The tribute will honor Veterans for their military service. The event will feature special guests and students preK-12th grades in presenting musical selections from “A Civil War Medley," “A Patriotic Salute," and “American Heroes."

“Every Hero Has a Story," 8:30 a.m., will provide personal stories, photographs, and memorabilia of military service men and women in WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam War, to the present War on Terror. Veterans, families, and Gold Star families are invited to share their treasured photographs, medals, and stories. Veterans are encouraged to also share their stories with Junior High and High School students during informal conversations.

The Veterans Day Musical Salute, 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m., will feature the Bagpipe March by Reverend Randy Gibbs on bagpipe with a Veterans Color Guard posting flags; and, “For God and Country," Shawna Dunlap, Auxiliary Chaplain. MC will be Superintendent Larry Geist with Patriotic music under the direction of Talley Hickman, music teacher. Special Guests include Representative Troy Waymaster, Kansas District 32, key note speaker; and James Robben, US Senator Jerry Moran’s District Representative. Essay winners of the Patriot's Pen and Voice of Democracy will also present. A reception will follow the program in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary.
