Beginning Jan. 1, the Hays Public Library will enable automatic renewals to make the process of borrowing from the library more convenient. This means items checked out after the first will renew automatically on the due date. The only exceptions are if a hold has been placed on an item or if the patron has reached the maximum number of renewals allowed for an item.

Patrons will continue to receive notification a few days before an item is due. On the due date, they will receive another notification that their item has either been renewed or is not eligible for renewal and is overdue. Patrons can check their online accounts to see how many times they can renew an item.
