Radio station KPRD has announced on its website that the concert by contemporary Christian band “I Am They” scheduled for Sunday, March 22, in Hays “has been cancelled/postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.”

The radio station said it made the decision after consulting with the Ellis County Health Department and Fort Hays State University, where the concert was to have taken place, and after hearing recommendations from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and Gov. Laura Kelly.

“We are looking to reschedule the show for a later date. We are looking at possible openings in late April or May or beyond, as things calm down,” the website stated.

The station said those who have already purchased tickets would be contacted to see if they would like a refund or if they would like to use their ticket for the future show.

Band members, who were consulted before the concert was cancelled, issued this statement: “We are so sorry that this show has been postponed. Your health and safety are important to us, so in light of safety measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, we’ve been advised to follow the local mandates and postpone the show.

“We are sad that we will not be able to meet you. But we are working diligently with your local promoter to promptly reschedule! Thank you for your understanding; we hope to see you soon! God is in control!”
