HARVEY COUNTY–One person is dead after a train accident Monday afternoon in rural Harvey County, and another died in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi truck on Tuesday.


Taylor Koehn, 21, of Halstead, was driving a farm tractor south on S. River Park Road at 3:15 p.m. Monday, crossing the railroad tracks near S.W. 24th Street, when his tractor was struck by an oncoming train at the railroad tracks.


Koehn was pronounced dead at the scene.


The incident was determined to have been an accident. The train derailed as a result.


In an unrelated accident also in Harvey County on Tuesday, Amiee Baker, 33, of Sedgwick, was killed when her SUV struck a semi truck making a delivery to a home north in the 5600 block of S. Kansas Avenue at 10:54 a.m. Tuesday.


Baker was pronounced dead at the scene.


The crash remains under investigation. The Kansas Highway Patrol’s Critical Highway Accident Response Team is assisting in the investigation.


The driver of the semi was not injured.
