Alfred Peter “Pete” Heeke, 84, Conroe, Texas, died Saturday, July 22, 2017, in Conroe.

He was born Sept. 8, 1932, in Windthorst Ford County to Harry and Emmeline (Ackerman) Heeke.  He attended Windthorst schools graduating in 1950.

He married Marcella Hattrup on April 24, 1951, in Windthorst. He farmed in that area and worked in construction and carpentry until retirement in 1996 at which time he moved to Hays.

He was a member of the St. Leon Council, Knights of Columbus, Windthorst from 1950 to 2013 when he transferred to Hays Council of Knights.  The couple moved to Conroe in 2016.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Daryl Heeke and wife, Nan, Taylor, Texas, and Ronald Heeke and wife, Cynthia, Kearney, Mo.; two daughters, Theresa Davidson, Emporia, and Elaine Rambaud and husband, Albert, The Woodlands, Texas; two sisters, Evelyn Durler and Julie Durler and husband, Tony, all of Dodge City; eight grandchildren, Matthew Davidson, Amanda Zuch and husband, Adam, Kyle Heeke, Brian Heeke and wife, Hailey, Sean Heeke, Kim Taylor and husband, Pete, Aimee Rambaud and Emilee Rambaud; two step-grandchildren, Jayci Stratton and husband, Willie, and Joshua Hamilton and wife, Amanda; five great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Downey; and two brothers-in-law.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Spearville; burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Windthorst. 

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.

Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Heart of Mary Building Fund, Hays, Immaculate Heart of Mary Heritage, Inc., Windthorst, or Holy Cross Cemetery Fund, Windthorst in care of the funeral chapel.
