Cora Lee Filbert, 85, Charleston, Ill., died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, at Hilltop Skilled Nursing Center, Charleston.

She was born Jan. 27, 1932, in Alexander to Fred and Hannah (Wittig) Blocher

She married Duane Filbert on Oct. 15, 1950, in Alexander. Together they lived on a farmstead northwest of Bazine. In 2010, they moved to Hays where they lived until the death of her husband in 2014. In 2015, she moved to Charleston to be near her daughter. Her children were her life. She adored and cherished every moment with her children and their families.

She was a member of United Methodist Church, Hays, and Ruth Circle.

Survivors include three sons, Doug Filbert and wife, Alison, Milton, Fla., Dwight Filbert and wife, Michele, Lincoln, Neb., and Myron Filbert and wife, Erin, Brownell; a daughter, Julie Benedict and husband, Reed, Charleston; a brother, Alfred Blocher and wife, Floris; two sisters, Joann Ebert and Beverly Gabel and husband, Hank; nine grandchildren, Stacie Filbert, Brad Filbert, Stephanie Stone, Kelli Gorley, Courtney Filbert, Casey Rhoads, Krina Filbert, Leah Rodriguez and Breann Benedict; 12 great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Bret Filbert; an infant grandson, Dustin Filbert; and a brother, Gary Blocher.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City; burial in Bazine Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society or United Methodist Church, Bazine, in care of the funeral home.
