Reginald Malcolm “Diz” Washaliski Jr., 83, McCracken, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017, at Locust Grove Village, La Crosse.

He was born June 19, 1934, in rural McCracken to Reginald M. “Max” Washaliski Sr. and Loretta A. (Higgins) Washaliski. He was a lifelong resident of rural McCracken, a 1952 graduate of Bazine High School and received a bachelor of science in mathematics from Fort Hays Kansas State College.

He married Wilma K. Baus on Aug. 23, 1961, in La Crosse. She preceded him in death Feb. 14, 2017. He taught at McCracken High School in the late 1960s. From 1970, until their retirement in 2010, he and his wife, Wilma, owned the State Farm Insurance Agency in La Crosse, later expanding a second office in Ness City. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1953 to 1955.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church, La Crosse, Lions Club, American Legion Post No. 59, McCracken, Walnut City Masonic Lodge No. 215, Rush Center, Rush County Economic Development; Rotary Club, Ness City, Isis Shriners, Salina, Fort Hays Shrine Club, Hays and was a hospice volunteer for many years.

Survivors include a son, Eric Washaliski and wife, Sarah, Bentonville, Ark.; a brother, William H. Washaliski, Milton, Fla.; and a sister, Marietta Kirk, Dodge City; six grandchildren, Brett Kearney, Audrey Ehrlich, Eric Kearney, Kate Palmer, Emily Washaliski, and Olivia Washaliski; and three great-grandchildren, Michaela Ehrlich, Gunner Ehrlich and Gage Ehrlich.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four sisters, Marguerite Holmes, Vivian L. Sonnedecker, Harriet “Toots” Washaliski, and Ethelda Washaliski.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, La Crosse.
