Virginia Sue “Ginger” Fabrizius, 81, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.

She was born Nov. 28, 1936, in Trego County to Rudolph and Martha (Kerth) Nelson. She was a graduate of Ellis High School and attained an education degree from Fort Hays State University.

She married Leon Fabrizius on Oct. 19, 1957. He preceded her in death. She retired from Ellis USD 388, where she taught for most of her career. In 1997, she was inducted into the Ellis Teacher Hall of Fame.

She was an avid music fan and especially enjoyed gospel and ragtime music. But the most important thing in her life was her family. There was nothing she would not do or give of herself in love and service to them.

She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, near Ogallah.

Survivors include three sons, Kevin Fabrizius and wife, Donna Brown, Kerrville, Texas, Mark Fabrizius and wife, Kathleen, Ogallah, and Daniel Fabrizius, Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Kelli Morrill and husband, James, Pleasant Hill, Mo.; three sisters, JoAnn Schoenthaler, Ellis, and Patricia Turner and Judith Nelson, both of Quinter; seven grandchildren, Erik Fabrizius with Ellen McNerney, Savannah Butler and husband, Gordon, Sierra Fabrizius with Cory Lampe, Jackson Morrill, Nelson Fabrizius, Easton Morrill and Drew Fabrizius; and three great-grandchildren, Eli, Nora and Ella Butler.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Paula Fabrizius; and a son, Scott Fabrizius.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, WaKeeney.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Emanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund or Trego County Historical Society in care of Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, Stockton.
