Cameron Perry, 46, Hays, died Saturday, April 28, 2018, in Hays.
He was born Evan L. Jones on April 29, 1971, in Lindsborg to Evan J. and Lynette A. (Polson) Jones. He was a 1989 graduate of Smoky Valley High School and Fort Hays State University with a communication degree in 1994.
He started his career as the production manager at KFHS, the Fort Hays State University radio station. He later began working for Hull Broadcasting and Eagle Communications. He served as the general manager for Hull Broadcasting and program director and DJ for 96.9 KIFX. He has spent 20 plus years as a radio broadcaster in Hays, with almost 18 of those years in morning radio. Through the years, he has won numerous honors, including first place awards from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters in the Commercial Audio Production and On-Air Talent categories. On occasion, he also taught broadcasting and audio production courses at Fort Hays State University.
He was a Cub Scout leader and a member of International Brotherhood of Magicians.
He enjoyed astronomy, the Denver Broncos but most of all the Chicago Cubs.
Survivors include his father, Lindsborg; a son, Banner Raevan Jones, Hays; a stepson, Keynan Hysten, Hays; an uncle, Eddie Polson, Lyons; and numerous cousins.
A celebration of life will be at 6 p.m. Friday led by Bruce Burkholder and Richard Hull at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601
A visitation/gathering will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the Banner Jones care and education fund in care of the funeral chapel.
