Ida A. Pfeifer, 96, Liebenthal, died Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Locust Grove Village, La Crosse.
She was born March 14, 1922, in rural Liebenthal to Alex and Rosalia (Legleiter) Schaffer. She was a cook at Fort Hays State University’s McMindes Hall prior to her retirement.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and St. Ann Altar Society, both of Liebenthal.
She married Albert Pfeifer on June 18, 1940, in Liebenthal. He preceded her in death. She later married Herb Schuckman. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Ernest Pfeifer, La Crosse, and Robert Pfeifer, Liebenthal; two daughters, Sister Alice Ann Pfeifer, Fond du lac, Wis., and Judy Hoffman, Liebenthal; two brothers, Ben Schaffer, Tallahassee, Fla., and Richard Schaffer, Marion; two sisters, Dorothy Sanders, Arizona, and Caroline Decker, Salina; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Tim Pfeifer; an infant son, Ronald Dean Pfeifer; a daughter, Rosalee Pfeifer; three brothers, Albert Schaffer, Eugene Schaffer and John Schaffer; and two sisters, Blanche Doonan and Alice Schaffer.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church, La Crosse; burial in La Crosse City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse and from 9 to 9:50 a.m. Thursday at the church.
A vigil/rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
