Shirley Kaye (Carter) Weeks, 64, Brownell, died Tuesday, June 19, 2018, in Ness City from complications of a vehicle accident while helping her husband and son on the farm.

She was born Jan. 14, 1954, in Ransom to Charles and Estelene (Curtis) Carter. She was a 1972 graduate of Ransom High School, a 1976 graduate of Fort Hays State University with a bachelor’s in elementary education and a master’s in gifted education in 1987.

She married Larry Weeks on August 15, 1973, in Brownell. She was an elementary education teacher for 24 years teaching in the Ransom, WaKeeney and Jetmore school districts.

Survivors include her husband, Brownell; a daughter, Erin Manning and husband, Chad, Norton; a son, Eric Weeks and wife, Jamie, Brownell; three brothers, Herb Carter and wife, Judith, Fountain, Colo., Charles Carter and wife, Ethel Mae, Guymon, Okla., and Gary Carter, Quinter; a sister, Kelle Tillitson and husband, Dave, WaKeeney; a sister-in-law, Reita Weeks, Brownell; three grandsons, Dakota, Dracen and Dalton Weeks, Brownell, and three granddaughters Carly, Avery and Campbell Manning, Norton.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Jay Michael; her parents, Charles and Estelene (Curtis) Carter; her father and mother-in-law, Clyde and Dorothy (Schwartzkopf) Weeks; and a brother-in-law, Robert Weeks.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ransom United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday with family present at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.

Memorials are suggested to Ransom United Methodist Church or Brownell Community Funeral Dinner Fund, in care of the funeral home.
