Zoran Stevanov, 73, Hays, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, in Albuquerque, N.M., during a scuba diving trip.
He was born in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia on June 25, 1945. He earned a B.A. Degree from Florida Atlantic University in 1968, and M.F.A. Degree from Wichita State University in 1970, and a Ph.D. Degree in Education from the University of Kansas in 1982. He developed the B.F.A. and M.F.A. photography degrees for FSHU as well as an Art History course for SIAS international.
He was married to Teodora for 52 years. He taught at Emporia State University for three years before coming to Fort Hays State University where he had been a professor of arts since 1973. His work has been included in exhibitions at the Lynn Kottler Gallery in New York, the Joslin Museum in Omaha, Monroe Art Museum in Louisiana, and the Paula Insel International Gallery in Puerto Rico.
He enjoyed scuba diving, fencingand tennis.
Survivors include his wife, Teodora; three children, Donald, Adriane, and Max and wife ,Jennifer; six grandchildren, Tyler, Alexis, Aleksandar, Solidad, Emily, and Olivia; and three great-grandchildren, Oliver, Lily, and Elliott Nova.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine, Hays; burial in the Mount Allen Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6 :30 p.m. Friday and from noon until time of service Saturday, both at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Nicholas Orthodox Christian Church, Lawrence or Humane Society of the High Plains, in care of the funeral home.
