Ruby Elizabeth Bixenman, 90, Grainfield, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018.
She was born Jan. 1, 1928, north of Grainfield, in Sheridan County, to Jay G. and Iva (Denning) Moore. She was a 1946 graduate of Grainfield High School and attended Wichita Business School.
She came back to Oakley and was a telephone operator at Southwestern Bell. She married Fred Bixenman on May 25, 1949. They enjoyed 69 years together with many blessings. She was a homemaker and helped on the family farm. She helped with harvest and always had fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy when the men arrived for supper.
She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, St. Ann Altar Society and the Grinnell Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
She enjoyed baking and trying out new recipes. Her specialty was cinnamon rolls and always an orange chiffon cake at Easter. She enjoyed and treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Grainfield; three sons, Kenny Bixenman and wife, Colleen, Colby, Ron Bixenman and wife, Nancy, and Daryl Bixenman and wife, Judy, all of Grainfield; two daughters, Linda Bixenman and friend, Jerry Gross, Hays, Mary Jane Goetz and husband, Greg, Grinnell; two sisters, Ilene Zimmerman and Rosa Lea Spressor and husband, Joe; 17 grandchildren, Erica Schmidt and friend, Denton Stein, Jessica Dempewolf and husband, Aaron, Jared Bixenman and wife, Sally, Jaydon Bixenman, Julian Bixenman, Nathan Goetz and wife, Kacie, Darren Goetz and wife, Tori, Eric Goetz and fiancée, Jacqui McCleneghen, Christina Peterson and husband, Greg, Christopher Bixenman, Luke Bixenman, Natalie Bixenman and Andrew Bixenman and wife, Tristan, Bailey Bixenman, Brooke Bixenman, Melissa Bixenman and Mason Bixenman; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Merle Moore and wife, Laverna, and Roy Moore and wife, Hazel; a sister, Nila Jean Weigel; and an infant sister, Katherine Moore.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St Paul Catholic Church, Angelus.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church.
A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Logan County Manor, St Ann Altar Society or Grinnell Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in care of Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley.
