Carol Hayes, 75, Hays, formerly of Alabama, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 22, 1942, in Hingham, Mass., to Wilfred and Elsie (Kataja) Loring. She was a graduate of Hingham High School.

She married Robert F. Hayes on Dec. 16, 1961, in Hingham. He preceded her in death May 24, 2014. She worked in the banking business for over 25 years in Hays — at Hays State Bank, Emprise Bank and Sunflower Bank. She and her husband operated the Russell Fed-Ex freight route for a number of years. She worked for USD 489 as a paraprofessional and with the Helping Hands Program. She later worked as a cashier and greeter at Hays Walmart, retiring in 2016.

Survivors include two sons, David Hayes and wife, Laura, and Matthew Hayes and wife, Crystal, all of Hays; a brother, Bill Loring, Lindsborg; a sister, Janice Loring, Lindsborg; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Hayes, Austin Hayes, Morgan Smull, Dakota Redwing and husband, Zach, Cheyenne Liester, Destiny Liester and Shelly Feldt; and a great-grandchild, Alexis Feldt.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be from 10 a.m. Saturday at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays, KS 67601; private family inurnment will be at a later date.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, both at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to Dreiling-Schmidt Cancer Institute Care Fund in care of the mortuary.
