Paul L. Newman, 65, died Dec. 20, 2018, at his home in Plainville.

He was born May 16, 1953, in Bellville to Charles and Irene (Smith) Newman.

He married Marlene Joan Hatfield on July 31, 1987, in Colby. She died April 18, 2018. He was a tree trimmer. He spent his summer visiting friends and riding his motorcycle alone.

His medical care was provided by Plainville Hospital and medical clinic and the cancer center in Hays. He was cared for by daughter-in-law Lisa in his home along with a friend of Paul and Marlene’s, Cindy with the Hospice team of Hays Medical Center.

He is survived by a son, William (Lisa) Newman; a daughter, Melissa Newman; two grandsons Jevin Legleiter-Newman and Christopher Newman; two granddaughters by marriage, Kylee Derby and Starlet Petersen; two great-grandchildren by marriage, Autumn and Ryder Petersen; brothers Tom (Mary) Newman, Virgil (Sandy) Newman, Dean (Rosetta) Newman, and Frank Newman; sisters Judy (Gene) Copeland, Carol (Ted) Gepner; and many neices and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and two daughters by marriage, Starlet Ann Haynes and Melisa Jo Wolfe.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday with luncheon to follow at First Congregational church, 305 Spruce Street, Stockton.
