Clinton Clifford Karst, 88, Hoisington, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, at Medicalodges of Great Bend.
He was born Nov. 28, 1930, in Galatia, to Seigmond and Pauline (Miller) Karst. He was a lifetime resident of Barton County.
He married Loene Schwein on Aug. 28, 1955, in Milberger. He was an accomplished welder, working in the construction field all of his life, owning and operating Karst Welding. He also worked at Bureau of Mines, Otis, and Stanion Wholesale and Murphy Tractor and Equipment. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, earning the rank of DC3.
He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hoisington, where he had served faithfully on church council, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7428, Fraternal Order of the Eagles and Sunflower Polka Club.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Curtis Karst, Great Bend, and Craig Karst and wife, Amy, Hoisington; a daughter, Colleen Karst and husband, Joe Hines, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; a brother, Leonard Karst and wife, May, Great Bend; a sister, Darlene Reber, Roseville, Calif.; two grandchildren, Amber Young and husband, Austin, Great Bend, and Ally Karst, Hoisington; a great-grandchild, Bentley Young, Great Bend; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hoisington; a private family inurnment will be at a later date in Hoisington City Cemetery with military honors conducted by U.S. Navy Honor Guard. .
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday with family greeting friends at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home with the family greeting friends at 6 p.m.
