Charles Robert Homm, 77, Oakley, died Sunday, June 9, 2019, at Logan County Hospital.
He was born Oct. 21, 1941, in Colby to Agnes and George Homm. He was a 1960 graduate of Oakley Public School.
He enjoyed Oakley and never left his hometown. From his first job running the Conoco Station at Highways 40/83 (before I-70 existed) to running his own business, he was Oakley. He was an excellent historian of all Oakley. Up until his passing he would enjoy his two hour car rides around Oakley, revisiting the past and telling what was there and when. His family was always fascinated in his profound memory of things in Oakley.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce, of almost 55 years; a son, Randy Homm; a daughter, Wendy Schwarz and husband, Sander; and two grandchildren, Kyle Sander and Kaylee Schwarz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George Jr. and Alfred Homm; three sisters, Pauline Blair, Betty Schuster and Barbara Gallentine; and a son-in-law, Greg Sander.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley; burial in Oakley City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Logan County Manor or Norman Yardley Cancer Fund in care of the mortuary.
