William “Bill” F. Dick, Jr., 87, Hays, died Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at St. Luke Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri.

He was born in Sterling, Colo., to William and Geraldine (Yonkers) Dick.

In his younger years he enjoyed rodeo, then spent his career buying, selling and trading horses. He retired at the age of 75 from Ellis County Feeders after 25 years of employment.

He enjoyed to work in his yard and garden and also hunting coyotes with his greyhounds.

Survivors include two sons, David Dick and wife, Becki, Sterling, Colo., and Marty Dick and wife, Gail, DeSoto; three daughters, Julie Zoller and husband, Bob, Paola, Billie Jo Epperson, Bethany, Mo., and Becky Searight and husband, Matt, Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Dan Dick, Ellis; three sisters, Betty Jo McIntire, Buffalo, Mo., Shirley Kaiser and Donna George, both of Sidney, Neb.; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVene “French” (Brees) Dick; two sisters, Mary Lou Dick and Sandra Peterson; and his parents.

Services will be at 10 a.m. July 13 at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, Hays; burial in the church cemetery.
