Samantha Rae “Sammy” Staab, 32, Pensacola, Fla., died Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at her home.

She was born Oct. 4, 1986, in Hays to Patrick “Pat” and Karen (Dinges) Staab. She was a 2005 graduate of Hays High School and attended Fort Hays State University and The University of Western Florida where she earned a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology.

She was a chef and owner of her catering business, Sammy’s Haus.

She enjoyed herb gardening, gallery walks, watching movies, cooking shows, swimming, jet skiing, her Pomeranian dogs and running and being a part of several running clubs.

Survivors include her parents, Hays; a sister, Megan Staab, Hays; her grandmother, Alfrieda Dinges, Hays, her dogs, Max, Minni, and Ricki; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Elmer and Viola Staab and Gilbert “Bucks” Dinges; and an aunt, Beverly Gross.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine, Hays, KS 67601.

A vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Humane Society of the High Plains or Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, in care of the funeral home.
