Catherine C. (Heinrich) Morel, 94, Grainfield, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019.
She was born Oct. 8, 1924, to Jacob and Anna (Kaiser) Heinrich. She was a 1943 graduate of Gove Rural High School.
She married Raymond Morel on Nov. 24, 1946. He preceded her in death. She was a gauger at the Kaiser Ammunition factory during World War II in Denver making 90 mm ammunition. When the war ended, she returned to Kansas. She was postmaster in Grainfield for 28 years before retiring.
She was a member of the Ladies of St. Agnes, American Legion Auxiliary and NARFE United Postmasters.
She enjoyed bus tours with her postmaster friends, going to casinos, bowling, dancing and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was an avid KC Royals fan.
Survivors include two sons, Lonnie and wife, Shirley, Grainfield, and Larry and wife, Pam, Oakley; two daughters, Pamela Garrett and husband, Phil, Eudora, and Dayleen Gonzales and husband, Steve, Hays; a brother, Leo, Lakewood, Colo.; three sisters-in-law, Marge Heinrich, Montine Heinrich and Margarette Morel-Larson; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Donnie and Melvin; an infant brother, Frank; and two sisters, Leona Beoger and Pauline Ribordy.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Agnes Church, Grainfield; burial in Grainfield Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Agnes Education Center, Grainfield.
A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the center.
Memorials are suggested to Gove County Medical Center, St. Agnes Church or Grainfield Auxiliary in care of Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley.
