Dorothy Staab, 97, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019.
She was born May 4, 1922, east of Catharine to Kilian and Anna Giebler.
She married Felix A. Staab on Oct. 12, 1943. He preceded her in death in 1960. She worked 36 years as a nurse assistant at St. Anthony and Hadley Hospitals, retiring at the age of 77.
She was a member of the Christian Mother’s Alter Society of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church.
Life was hard but love was plentiful. Her life was centered around her religion and her faith in God. She enjoyed playing guitar, piano, organ, and enjoyed playing in a band with her siblings, The No.: 1 Stringbusters.
Survivors include two sons, Lambert Staab and wife, Jarilyn, Hays, and Darrell Staab and wife, Jacque, Wichita; a daughter, Jeanette Stewart, Catharine; two sisters, Rosa Mae Cobb and husband, Roe, Chico, Calif; and Betty Cain, Escondido, Calif.; four grandchildren, Stan Staab and wife, Katrina, Larry Dean Staab and companion, Gwen, all of Hays, Diana Wilson and husband, Chris, Rocklin, Calif.; and Misty Woodward, Manhattan; eight great-grandchildren, Sharlie Staab, Spencer Staab, Taylor Staab, Jordan Pfeifer and husband, Dylan, Sabrina Wilson, Stewart Wilson, Aaron Wilson and Jake Borashaski, and a great-great-grandchild, Kasen Shelton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Felicitas (Litz), Francis, Germain, Kilian, Mary Ann, Mary Virginia (Ginny), and Raymond; and a son-in-law, John Stewart.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Catharine; burial in St. Catherine Cemetery, Catharine.
Visitation will from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.
A rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. by the Christian Mother's Alter Society of St. Catherine, followed by a vigil at 7 p.m., both at the funeral chapel.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice at HaysMed and the Christian Mother’s Alter Society of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church – Catharine, in care of the funeral chapel.
