David L. “Dave” Walters, 69, Phoenix, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019.

He was born April 23, 1950, in Hays to Cyril and Catherine (Billinger) Walters. He was a graduate of St. Joseph Military Academy in 1968, Emporia State University and Arizona State University.

He worked in hospital administration in the BannerHealth System in Phoenix.

He was remembered for his bravery and determination in overcoming paralyzing injuries from a debilitating diving accident as a young man and going on to live an independent life and having a successful career.

Survivors include his wife, Diana, Phoenix; a brother, Arlen Walters and wife, Muriel, Las Vegas; a sister, Kathleen Ochs and husband, Darrel, Gypsum, Colo.; two stepsons; a nephew and niece and their families; and numerous cousins and friends.

A celebration of his life will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 12 at Phoenix Memorial Park, Phoenix.
