James "Jim" Lawrence Hoffman, 84, Hays, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society, Hays.

He was born Dec. 31, 1934, in Plainville to Lawrence and Josephine (Karlin) Hoffman.

He married Vera Sander on May 30, 1964, in Hays. He worked for the City of Hays for 27 years and for Alco for 17 years.

He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Hays.

He enjoyed playing polka and gospel music on the piano, playing cards, watching sports, especially the Kansas City Royals, gardening and listening to Johnny Cash.

Survivors include his wife, Hays; a sister, Lillian Pfeifer, Hays; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Barbara Winston; and a nephew, David Hoffman.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Hays; burial in St. Anne Cemetery, Walker.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.

A rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to HaysMed Hospice or Good Samaritan Society, Hays.
