Judith A. “Judy” (Schmidtberger) Braun, 76, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society of Ellis.
She was born Oct. 31, 1942, in Victoria to Edmund L. and Elizabeth (Hertel) Schmidtberger. She grew up in Victoria and Plainville and attended Plainville High School.
She married Everett J. Braun on June 2, 1962, in Victoria. He preceded her in death Sept. 6, 2005. She was a homemaker.
She served on St. Fidelis Parish Council, was a religious ed teacher for a number of years and enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls.
She was a member of the Basilica of St. Fidelis, Daughters of Isabella, Christian Mothers, and a Sweet and Sour Kraut cast member, all of Victoria.
Survivors include three sons, Douglas and wife, Jeri Braun, Lenexa, Scott and Terri Braun and Curt Braun and wife, Dr. Jessica Braun, all of Hays; eight grandchildren, Brandon Braun, Rachel Braun, Bryce Braun, Coby Braun, Alec Waelchli, Isabelle Braun, Addie Braun and Mabel Braun; a brother, Edmund Schmidtberger and wife, Mary Lee, Pratt; three sisters, Marjorie Gagnon and husband, Ralph, Overland Park, Cheryl Hammerschmidt and husband, Lloyd, and Paula Walts, all of Lawrence.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria; burial in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Monday, both at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary, 412 Main, Victoria, KS 67671.
A vigil and combined Daughters of Isabella / Christian Mothers rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, all at the mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to The Basilica of St. Fidelis or Good Samaritan Society of Ellis in care of the mortuary.
