Lee (Joy) McDougal, 72, formerly of Hays, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019, in Alpine, Calif.

She was born Jan. 25, 1947, in Hays to Walter and Eleanor (Gottschalk) Joy. She attended Buckeye School as a child, graduated from Hays High School and attended Fort Hays State University.

She married David McDougal on Dec. 2, 1967, in Hays. He preceded her in death July 12, 2012. They made their home in San Diego and later resided in Alpine. The owned and operated Automotive Fleet Services.

They were avid campers, enjoyed traveling and went on many short road trips in the San Diego area.

Survivors include a son, Dan McDougal, and longtime girlfriend, Michelle Harmon, Alpine; a daughter, Jamie McDougal and husband, Dave, Surprise, Ariz.; two brothers, Frank Joy and wife, Carol, and Fred Joy and wife, Pam, all of Hays; a sister, Lois LaCoss and husband, Greg, San Marcos, Texas; and four grandchildren, Daniel McDougal II, Hayden VanClay, Gage VanClay, and Ryder VanClay.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Judy Rohr.

A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Hays; inurnment in Fort Hays Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hays.

Family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
