Arleta “Joan” Thomas, 87, Hays, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society, Hays.
She was born June 6, 1932, in Glen Elder to Lloyd and Grace (Shaffer) Golladay.
She married Marvin Thomas on Oct. 5, 1995, in Las Vegas. She was a bookkeeper for Oldham Sales, Hays, and a receptionist for Alliance Life Insurance Company, McPherson, and Home Insurance Company, Overland Park.
She was a member of the Beloit VFW Auxiliary.
She enjoyed time with her grandchildren and dancing.
Survivors include her husband, Hays; a son, Gary Guard, Hays; a stepson, Duane Thomas, Hays; a daughter, Gayla Guard, Merriam; two stepdaughters, Connie Schmidt and Michelle Hay, both of Lincoln, Neb.; a sister, Betty Krier, Beloit; 10 grandchildren, Shaun, Shanna, Connor, Craig, Matthew, Dena, Drew, Taylor, Madison and Katie; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Greg Guard; a brother, Robert Golladay; and a daughter-in-law, Glinda Guard.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601; burial will be at 3 p.m. Monday in St. John Cemetery, Beloit.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until time of service, both at the funeral chapel.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice at HaysMed or Alzheimer’s Association, in care of the funeral chapel.
