Patricia Ann Young, 84, Colby, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2019, at Citizens Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 14, 1935, in Colby to E. A. (Neb) and Mary (Talbott) Swanson. She was a 1953 graduate of Colby High School, attended Fort Hays State University completing a secretarial course in 1953 and later attended Denver University.

She married (Ralph) Dean Young on April 21, 1956. He preceded her in death. She grew up helping her parents run their business, the Cozy Cafe, and continued to do so until her parents’ retirement. Her work revolved around restaurants and raising children.

She was a fixture around town and in the area, sharing stories and fun times with friends and strangers. She was an avid musician.

She enjoyed playing the piano and listening to all types of music, going to class reunions, was a fan of NASCAR, and an animal lover.

Survivors include a son, Robert Young and wife, Linda, Las Vegas; three daughters, Carla Nash and husband, William, Evanston, Ill., Cynthia Brown and husband, Michael, Prairie Village, and Lisa Moss and husband, Shane, Stevensville, Mont.; seven grandchildren, Katie Lyon and husband, Eddie, Las Vegas, Tommy Young and wife, Jessica, Morrow, Ohio, Nathan Vanatta, Colby, Valerie Lucia and husband, Ryan, Carson City, Nev., Derrick Sorensen, Colby, Preston Jones and fiancé, Emily Naes, Denver, and Jessica Moss, Skokie, Ill.; six great-grandchildren, Idalas Jensen, Regan Hughes, Joycelyn and Xander Lyon, Mathew and Kenneth Young; and two great-great grandchildren Kawika and Malakai Jensen.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby; burial in Beulah Cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to United Methodist Church, Prairie Museum of Art and History, or Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary No 6882 in care, of the mortuary.
