Opal (Beougher) Zimmerman, 84, Quinter, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, at Gove County Long Term Care Facility.

She was born Oct. 1, 1935, in Grinnell to Gael and Mary Beougher. She was a 1953 graduate of Grinnell High School and Fort Hays State University majoring in business.

She married Fabian Zimmerman on Aug. 30, 1955, in Grinnell. He preceded her in death. She had the longest running business in Quinter for 51 years, Zimmerman Agency Tax Services, prior to retirement at the age of 82. Survivors include two sons, Alan Zimmerman, Quinter, and Steven Zimmerman, Cheney; five daughters, Connie Albin, Quinter, Betty Pelzel, Salina, Brenda Ikenberry, St. Louis, Mo., JoAnn Williams, Topeka, and Lois Mans, St. Louis; three brothers, Ken Beougher, Bird City, John Beougher, Pierre, S.D., and Max Beougher, Denver; a sister, Donna Spath, Grand Junction, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Schmitt Funeral Home, Quinter; burial in Kansas Veteran’s Cemetery, WaKeeney.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Gove County Medical Center Long-Term Care Facility, Quinter, Kansas Veteran’s Cemetery, WaKeeney, or Masses in care of the funeral home.
