Donna Hopper, 83, Dodge City, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, in Topeka.

She was born July 8,1936, in Ness County to Jacob and Lucy (Schoendaller) Munch. She received her grade school education from Manteno Country School (SW Ness County) and Sacred Heart Catholic School in Ness City. She graduated from Ness City High School.

She married Darrell Hopper on Nov. 27, 1954, in El Paso, Texas. They resided in several Kansas cities but mainly in Ness City, Lewis, and Dodge City.

She was a secretary/bookkeeper. She enjoyed husband and family. She liked to sew, cook and play cards and games. Dancing was a passion and she and her husband taught round dance for over 20 years and were active in square and line dance.

She was a member of The Cathedral of Lady Guadalupe Church Alter Society in Dodge City and American Legion Auxiliary, Ness City.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years; a son, Dennis Hopper and wife, Vicki, Houston; two daughters, Danette Russell and husband, Rick, St. John, and Denise Hopper, Dodge City; a sister, Wilma Drake, Ness City; four grandchildren, Royce Russell and wife, Stephanie, Kristin Russell, Annie Hopper and Sean Willerford, and Ellie Hopper; and a great-granddaughter, Lyla Russell.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Donald James; her parents; four brothers, Richard, Barney, Johnnie, and Lavern; two infant brothers and sisters Petronella Ellis, Leona Schmalzried, Isabel Kelley, and Esther Wydick.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church, Ness City; burial in Ness City Cemetery,.

A rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.

Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart School, in care of the funeral home.
