Dam Quach, 97, San Gabriel, CA, formerly of Phillipsburg, died Tuesday, December 31st, 2019 at Sunny Village Care Center.
He was born June 25th, 1922 in Fu Zhou, China. On October 13th, 1948 he was united in marriage to Lam T Lam in Vietnam, with this union they had 12 children, and 20 grandchildren. They celebrated 66 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on April 15th, 2015.
He was an orphan at the age of 14 and migrated to Vietnam in 1936. He spoke several Chinese dialogues, in addition to Vietnamese and some English. He was a successful business man in Vietnam. In August 1980 the family migrated to Phillipsburg, KS and he worked for school district USD 325 until he retired in 1992.
He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, brother and uncle. He was very friendly, loved to entertain and travel, enjoyed his family and loved life in general.
Survivors include his children: Chau M Tran, wife of the late son, Dan (1949-1998) with their children Huy and Rowena, Nhi Palmberg and Kyle, Houston, TX; Nam and wife Ngoc Tang with their children Catherine Liu and Li, Michael Ontario, Canada; Phuong H Quach and husband Ngoc Tran, with their children Vinh and Sharon, Anne Chin and Thomas, Hung, Brian, Perth AUS; Tran (Jung) H Pham and husband Hung (Tom) with their children Christopher and Annum, Kevin, Hays, KS; Thanh (Michael) C. and wife Trinh (Triny) with their children Naomi, Jeremy, San Jose, CA; Chau Quach and husband Ung Hung, with their children Michele, Amy, Jasmine, Nicholas, Temple City, CA; Lien Quan and husband Kenny, Hays, KS; Hai, Pasadena, CA; Sonny and wife Phuong (Kimmy) with their son Andrew, San Gabriel, CA; Luong (Lonnie) and wife Diem, with their children Derek, Devin, Damien, Hays, KS. Seven great grandchildren: Evelyn Quach; Ethan, Vanessa, and Jacob Liu; Louis, Marcus, and Travis Chin and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother, three sons: Dan, Hung, Sanh, his brother in-law, his sister-in-law, two nieces and a nephew.
Services will be at 9 am, Friday, January 10th, 2020 at Universal Chung Wah Funeral Home, 225 North Garfield Ave, Alhambra, CA 91803 - (626) 281-7887.
Visitation will be from 2pm to 7pm on January 9th, 2020 at the funeral home
