Joy Kathryn (Carmicheal) Glick, 97, Hays, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2020, at Via Christi Village.

She was born Aug. 29, 1922, near Plainville to Ralph and Maude (Winters) Carmicheal. She was a 1940 graduate of Plainville High School and a graduate of Brown Mackie School of Business in Salina.

She married Fred J. Glick on Aug. 26, 1942.  He preceded her in death in 2007.  She worked at banks in Sublette, Plainville, Pratt, and Guymon, Okla.  She also worked for Kansas Nebraska Natural Gas Company in Plainville, Cabot Corp., Pampa, Texas, and Southern Union Oil Company in Hobbs, N.M. They retired in 1985 and moved to Hays.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Courtney-Spaulding Chapter of DAR, and Order of the Eastern Star in Hays, where she recently received her 75 year pin.

Survivors include her three daughters, Ronda Buchheister and husband, Mike, Colorado Springs, Colo., Sondra Olinger and husband, Russell, Wellsville, and Joy Marlene Glick, Hays; a sister; Regna Powell, Sun City West, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Kerry Page, Fred Buchheister, Judy Stambaugh, Dan Hull, Heather Mewhinney, and Angie Lytle; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Norman Eugene, Richard, Robert and Ronald Carmicheal.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, Hays; burial in Plainville City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine, Hays, KS 67601 and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the church.  An Order of the Eastern Star memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home. 

Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Churches, Hays and Plainville, Historic Fort Hays, or Hospice of HaysMed, in care of the funeral home.
