Signa Lea Heffel, 85, Hays, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020, at Good Samaritan Society, Hays.

She was born Nov. 1, 1934, in Luray to Lester and Waive (Glasgow) McKanna.

She married Eddie Heffel Jr. on Feb. 10. 1954. He preceded her in death Feb. 2, 2014. She was a teacher aide with pre-K students in Winfield.

She enjoyed travel with friends and family, and crocheting.

Survivors include a son, Roger Heffel and wife, Joyce, Hays; a daughter, Cynthia Heffel, Hays; four grandchildren, Steven Stremel, Seattle, Stacy Rogers and husband, David, Kaneohe, Hawaii,  Kelly Flaska and husband, Gabe, and Kayci Schumacher and husband, Jeremiah, all of Hays; and 17 great-grandchildren, Ben, Ella, Jack, Max, Oliver, Sam, and Claire Schumacher, Gavin and Karsen Flaska, Michael, Hannah, Lucy, Jude, Eleanor, Ari, Eddie and Vivian Rogers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lowell McKanna; and a twin sister, Sondra Cherry.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
