Helen Marie (Ambrosius) Brown, 76, Hays, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020, at Via Christi Assisted Living Center, Hays.

She was born Nov. 9, 1943 in Spokane, Wash., to William H. and Helen Josephine (Woods) Ambrosius. She a 1961 graduate of Enid High School, she received a bachelors in science education in 1966 from Philips University in Enid, her LPN in 1980 from Colby Community College and a bachelor of science in nursing, RN, Cum Laude, in 1994 from Fort Hays State University.

She married Richard C. Brown on June 12, 1965, in Enid, Okla. He preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 2007. She was a charge nurse, a clinical supervisor, an inpatient rehab and skilled nurse for over 30 years. She worked in home health care and at Goodland Hospital for 13 years. She then moved to Hays in 1993 and worked at Hays Medical Center until she retired in 2010.

She was a member of St. Michael Episcopal Church and a Lay Reader. She was a member of the American Association of University Women and National and State Association of Rehabilitation Nursing.

Survivors include her two sons, Rick Brown and his wife, Jennifer, Derby, and Bill Brown, Hays; a brother, Bill Ambrosius and wife, Kathy, Dove Canyon, Calif.; six grandchildren, Jordan Moore and wife, Ruby, Jayme Brown, Liam Brown, Cody Ramsey, Kael Ramsey, Keaton Brown; and a great-grandchild, Elizabeth Moore.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Episcopal Church, Hays; inurnment in St. Michael Episcopal Church Columbarium, Hays.

Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Humane Society of the High Plains.
