Florence Kuhn, 98, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020, at her home.
She was born Oct. 22, 1921, in Hays to Peter and Catherine (Unrein) Pfeifer. She was a graduate of Hays High School.
She married Elmer Kuhn on July 19, 1945, in Victoria. He preceded her in death Oct. 10, 2003. She was a housewife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and homemaker.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Church, Altar Society/Christian Mother’s and Hays Medical Center volunteers.
She enjoyed doing volunteer work for the church and Hays Medical Center. She enjoyed making many quilts and afghans for her children, grandchildren and other family members.
Survivors include a son, Ken Kuhn, Hays; two daughters, Bonnie Kuhn, Victoria, and Cathy Schwartz and husband, Wayne, Griffin Ga.; a sister, Venita Collier and husband, John, Lakeland Colo.; six grandchildren, Tammy Leighton, Norman Okla., Tonya Moddelmog and husband, Craig, Fort Collins, Colo., Tim Leighton and wife, Courtney, Charlotte, N.C., Lisa Denney, Manhattan, Shelby Koerner and husband, Brent, Woodstock Ga., and Greg Schwartz and wife, Christy, Hays; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson Kevin Leighton; four sisters, Agnes Kreutzer, Regina Arnhold, Martina Kreutzer, Alfreda Schmeidler; three brothers, Wilfred (Jim) Pfeifer, Peter V. Pfeifer and RJ (Bob) Pfeifer; and a son-in-law, James S. Fulton, Sr.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, Hays; burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., with a vigil/rosary at 7 p.m., Friday at Brock's Keithley Funeral Home, Hays.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the University of Kansas Medical Center, in care of the funeral home.
