James “Jim” Kenneth Madsen, 66, Russell, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2020, at Russell Regional Hospital.
He was born Sept. 15, 1953, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Kenny and Louise (Rogers) Madsen. He attended high school in West Branch, Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor's degree in agriculture business.
He married Katrin Kolder, DVM on Sept. 1, 1990, in West Branch. He put together a grassland ranch northeast of Russell.
Survivors include, Katrin, Russell; two sons, Josh and Steven, both of Russell; a brother Dick Miller, West Branch, Iowa; a sister, Patty Earley, Naples, Fla.; and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Russell.
A celebration of life will follow at a later date in West Branch.
Memorials are suggested to R-CALF USA or Russell Rough Riders Special Olympics chapter, in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.
