Donald W. Mai, 91, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2020, at Jefferson’s Gardens, Edmond Okla.
He was born Dec. 17, 1928, in Hays to William and Katherine Mai. He was a 1945 graduate of Ellis High School and attended Fort Hays State University.
He worked for Cessna, Boeing and the Wichita school system until he retired in 1995. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War.
Survivors include a son, Gary Mai and wife, Lori, Wichita; two daughters, Wanda Birdwell and husband Dale, Edmond, Okla., and Gloria Mai, Monument Colo; and two grandchildren, Christopher Mai, Wichita, and Tiffany Mai, Honolulu, Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dwaine; and a sister, Delores Kosman.
Graveside inurnment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. John Cemetery, north of Ellis.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th Ellis, KS 67637.
