John Delevan “Del” Bauer, 70, Hutchinson, died Monday, March 2, 2020, at Robert Dole Veterans Hospital, Wichita.


He was born Nov. 29, 1949, in Ransom, to John and Josephine (Schwartzkopf) Bauer. He was a 1967 graduate of Ransom High School.


He married Patricia McMillan on March 11, 1972, in Dodge City. They shared 43 years together before she preceded him in death March 14, 2015. He was a master of many trades, including: plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, mechanics, and farming.


He was a member of Communities That Care, Watch D.O.G.S., VFW Post No. 1361, and American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68.


Survivors include a son, James Sharp, Ness City; three daughters, Barbara Clark and husband, Raymond, Cimarron, Victoria Bauer and Kathrine Baker and husband, Logan, all of Hutchinson; two brothers, Mark Bauer and Jacob Bauer; seven sisters, Lynetta Skaggs, Sylvia Bauer, Judy Lee, Linda Ummel, Ruth Bauer, Juanita Ottley, and Beatrice Bauer; seven grandchildren, Breckon (Kelly) Bauer, Brianna Hayes, Brooklyn Hayes, Johnathan Bauer, Nevaeh Baker, Clayton Baker, and Isabella Baker; and four great-grandchildren, Olivia Bauer, Drew Bauer, Alexiz Jaso, and Adrian Hayes.


He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Lisa Sharp; and a sister, Carole Wolfe.


Cremation has taken place. A memorial celebration will take place at a later date at Wertz Street Emporium and announced by the family.


Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
