J.D. Most, 87, Russell, died Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 30, 1932, in Atwood to Jesse and Merna (Escue) Most. He graduated from Atwood High School, McCook Junior College in McCook, Neb. and received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education from Fort Hays State University.

He married Shirley M. Hurst on Aug. 21, 1955, in Atwood. He was a history and physical education teacher for USD 407. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean war.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; three daughters, Lynette Nagai-Most, DeAnn Most and Valerie Most, all of Wichita; a sister, Jeanine Bevan, Caldwell; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Russell; burial in Russell City Cemetery.

Visitation and family greeting guests will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church or USD 407 Athletic Department, in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.
