Anselma “Selma” Janet (Giebler) Cook, 76, Hays, died April 7, 2020, at her home.
She was born Aug. 26, 1943, in Hays to Alvin F. and Amelia (Windholz) Giebler. She attended grade school in Catharine and was a 1961 graduate of Girls Catholic High School.
She married Francis Samuel Cook on June 12, 1965, in Hays. They lived many years in Goodland. She worked for Sherman County Day Care Center, dietary aid at Goodland Regional Medical Center, cook for USD 489 at Wilson Elementary and Felten Middle School and enjoyed taking care of her grandsons.
Survivors include two sons, David J. Cook Amarillo, Texas and Robert F. Cook, Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Alvin Jr. Giebler, Oklahoma City and John Giebler, Norman, Okla.; two sisters, Diann Dreiling, Hays and JoAnn Thiessen, Wichita; two grandsons, Jon D. Cook (Kenzie) Hays and Brett Ross (Nicole), Erie; two great-grandsons, Westyn and Hunter Cook; and two great-granddaughters, Serenity and Addison.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services are pending and will be announced at a later date when the gathering restrictions due to the COVID-19 virus have been lifted.
