James Louis Ogle Jr., 79, Truth or Consequences, N.M., formerly of Phillipsburg, Newton and Ellis, died Monday, May 4, 2020, at his home.


He was born Jan. 29, 1941, in Broken Bow, Okla., to James L. and Julia Mae (Williams) Ogle. He grew up in Sawmill, Ariz., and Fort Defiance, Ariz., and graduated from Window Rock High School, Fort Defiance, in 1959, and from Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, Ariz., with a degree in accounting in 1964.


He married Emily Blake in Idyllwild, Calif., in 1964. He worked many years for JC Penney Company in Gallup, N.M., and Hereford, Texas, and managed the store in Phillipsburg. He later worked in grocery stores in Phillipsburg and Newton before retiring to Ellis.


Survivors include his former wife, who was his caretaker in the last years of his life, Emily Ogle; a son, Jim Ogle, Socorro, N.M.; a daughter Juno Ogle, Roswell, N.M.; two sisters-in-law, Bonny Ogle, Phoenix, Ariz., and Vivian Ogle, Marion, Texas; and nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents; and two younger brothers, Kenneth and Scott.


Cremation was chosen; there will be no service.
