Howard Alm, 92, died Tuesday, May 5, 2020.


He was born Oct. 17, 1927, in Fergus Falls, Minn., to Olga and Oscar Alm.


He married Della Lund on June 19, 1948. She preceded him in death in 2017, after nearly 70 years of marriage. His career at General Mills took his family from Minneapolis to Des Moines to Kansas City. He retired in 1987 in Overland Park. In 1945, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy.


He enjoyed his family, dogs, collecting glassware, model cars and watching KU basketball.


Survivors include by two sons, Tom and wife, Glenna, and John; three daughters, Kathy and husband, Gene, Debi and husband, Dick and Patti and husband, Eric; four grandchildren, Stacie (Eric), Jason (Raina), Brian (Emma), and Sara (Scott); five great-grandchildren, Ben, Brady, Boston, Reed, Kennedy, and Cora; and numerous nephews and nieces.


He was preceded in death by a sister, Jacquelyne (Jackie) Arveson.


Services will be held at a later date, with arrangements by Johnson County Funeral Chapel, Overland Park.
