Marilyn Rhea (Somers) Barrett, 90, Pratt, formerly of Paradise, died Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Pratt Health & Rehabilitation Center, Pratt.


She was born Aug. 25, 1929, in Altoona to Rhea Moore and Thelma Doris (Davis) Somers. She was a graduate of Fort Hays State University with a degree in education.


She married Harry W. Barrett on Jan. 10, 1953, in Clayton, N.M. He preceded her in death Oct., 1994.


She taught in Copeland, Cedar Point, Turon, Paradise from 1967 to 1973, Winona, from 1974 to 1984, and Natoma, from 1985 until her retirement.


Survivors include three sons, Kent Barrett and Max Barrett, both of Pratt and Richard Barrett, Colby; two daughters, Terry Allen, Manhattan, and Sandee Bate, Sparta, Tenn.; two sisters, Joyce Anne Barnes, Warrensburg, Mo., and Monice Laray Somers, Russell; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.


A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Mt. Hermon Cemetery, Paradise.


There will be no visitation.


Memorials are suggested to Waldo Senior Center.
