Victor Patrick Lang Jr., 77, Hays, died Sunday, June 21, 2020, after a long illness at Via Christi.
He was born Sept. 23, 1942, in Hays to Victor and Minnie Staab Lang. He graduated from Bishop Hogan High School in Kansas City.
He was a volunteer fireman and later became fire chief of Hays. He later owned Hays Fire Equipment Sales and Service until retirement. He entered the Army reserves in 1963 and served until 1969. Survivors include his fiancé, Mary Schoenberger; two sons, David Lang and wife, Rhonda, Lansing and Tommy Lang, Hays; a daughter, Dana Timmons and husband, Bruce, St. Francis; a sister, Cindy Stillwagoner and husband, Rich, Mansfield, Texas; five grandchildren, Brittney and Taylor Lang, Darris (Haley), Casey (Erin) and Connor Keller; two future great-grandchildren on the way; a niece, Becky Smith and husband, Matt, Meridian, Idaho; and a nephew, Marc Stillwagoner and wife, Melinda, Mansfield, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Norma Buckler.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church; burial in Kansas Veterans' Cemetery, WaKeeney.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601.
A combined rosary/vigil will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
Memorials are suggested to Hays Fire Department or Hays Veterans of Foreign Wars in care of the funeral chapel.
