Iola (Ike) Marie (Ubben) Albright led a long and rich life that touched many lives.  Iola passed peacefully on June 9, 2020.

Iola was born west of Oketo, Kansas on December 22, 1931 to parents Mahlon and Caroline Ubben. She was later joined by six brothers: Arlyn Richard (deceased), Ivan Eugene (deceased), Gary Lee, Wendell Dean (deceased), David Allen (deceased) and Keith Douglas. She was a survivor at an early age with six rowdy younger brothers!

She continued to teach for over 30 years ending her teaching career while in the Buhler School District. She instilled the love to learn, explore and question in all her students.

She married Kenneth B. Albright on November 9, 1952 in Marysville, Kansas and went on to have three children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Family was extremely important to her, she loved spoiling them and spending time with them.

Iola had a love for bridge, Scrabble, reading, spending time with friends and travel. Her travels were many and varied.

Iola was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and her beloved Aunt Marie, who was like a mother to her throughout her life. Iola always held her close to her heart.

She leaves behind son Dana K. Albright, granddaughter Johanna M. Medina (Leasa), daughter,  Katheen M. Albright Smith (Casey), children Andrew C. Smith and Ashley R. Smith, and  daughter Kristine R. Albright NIcholson (Scott), children Chelsie D. Nicholson and Chloe M. Nicholson.  She also leaves behind two great children, Cipher A. King and Phoenix V. King.

Iola was an active member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, Kansas and it is to the Emanuel Lutheran Church Youth and Children’s Ministry Fund  that memorials may be directed. Services are pending due to the current social distancing guidelines.  Baker Funeral Home and Emanuel Lutheran Church will provide final service details.

Ike’s smile, energy, love and generosity will never be forgotten.
