Kathleen Lucille Kaler, 73, Bison, died Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Hays Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 19, 1946, in Manhattan to Alvin and Eva Johnson. She graduated from Manhattan High School.

She married Charles Duane Kaler on June 6, 1965, in Manhattan. She was a dedicated wife and mother first and foremost. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She enjoyed shopping, spoiling her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; two daughters, Jenny Mitchell and husband, Mike, Wichita and Corina Ummel and husband, Roger, Collyer; three brothers, Alvin Johnson, Evan Johnson and Calvin Johnson; two sisters, Sharon Baldon and Karen Buckingham; six grandchildren, Jessica Pierce (Gabe), Topeka, Michele Brady (Nick), Hoyt, Taylor Cuiksa (Jason), Hutchinson, Haylee Mitchell (Andrew Starks), Wichita, Courtney Kaler (Bryan Brungardt) and Cody Kaler, all of Hays; and two great-grandsons, Wade Brady, Hoyt and Brayden Cuiksa, Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Charlene and Dustin Kaler; and a brother Melvin Johnson.

A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Bison. Masks are required.
