Wilbur Perry Cotten, 99, Hoisington, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, at Medicalodges, Great Bend.


He was born April 3, 1921, in Woodston to Perry J. and Blanche A. (Dibble) Cotten. He was a 1938 graduate of Woodston High School.


He married Phoebe Joyce Benedick on June 21, 1947, in Stockton. She preceded him in death Jan. 10, 1977. He later married Marjorie Duncan in 1979. He was a tool pusher in the oil field. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran from 1942 to 1946 in World War II , serving as a Staff Sergeant.


He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Osborne.


He was a fan of the Chiefs, Royals, and Jayhawks, but especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.


Survivors include two sons, Joe Cotten and wife, Ginger , Hoisington, Jeff Cotten and wife, Tammy, Susank; two daughters, Janet Dayton and husband, Bill, Great Bend and Jodi Snyder, Rosamond, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Patrick Corcoran and wife, Trish, Wichita, Aaron Corcoran and wife, Jessica , Great Bend, Micah Cotten and wife, Tiffany, Godley, Texas, Sarah Simic and husband, Milan, Hoisington, Rebekah Ohlde and husband, Tim, Salina, Joey Cotten and wife, Kara, Hoisington, Dustin Marsh and wife, Morgan and Daniel Marsh, all of Wichita, and Braydon Snyder, Rosamond; and 13 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Marsh; three infant brothers and sisters; and two sisters, Doris Jean Hays and Eloise Miller.


Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington; burial in Hoisington Cemetery with military honors conducted by McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard.


Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.


Memorials are suggested to Ash Rock Church or Kindred Hospice in care of the funeral home.
