Don R. Younger, 71, Ellis, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020, at Hays Medical Center.


He was born April 9, 1949, in Hays to Michael and Seraphine (Bieker) Younger. He was a 1967 graduate of Ellis High School.


He married Rita (Boos) on July 8, 1967, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellis. They were married for 53 years. He was a master electrician and owned Don’s Electric & Rewind in Ellis over 30 years. They also farmed part time for over 45 years on the family farm south of Ellis and it was one of his greatest joys.


He was a long time member of the Ellis Golf Club, a saxophonist as a member of the Younger Band and other various bands without being able to read a note.


He enjoyed playing cards, playing golf and family gatherings.


Survivors include his wife, Ellis; three sons, Donnie Younger and wife, Wanda, Bobby Younger and wife, Toni and Aaron Younger and wife, Jennifer, all of Ellis; a sister, Lillian Reynolds, Sunrise Beach, Mo.; six grandsons, Gage, Landon, Aspen, Bryce, Cale and Mason Younger; a granddaughter, Aspen Younger; and his faithful pet, German Shepard, Mac.


He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Walter, John, Bill, Michael and Robert; and three sisters, Evelyn, Edna and Viola.


Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Ellis; burial in the church cemetery.


Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with a combined Knights of Columbus rosary/vigil at 7 p.m., all the church.
