Gerald Eugene “Jerry, Birdman” Bird, 67, Plainville, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2020, at his sister’s home in Hoxie.
He was born May 16, 1953, in in Hays to John E. and Norma Jean (Hornbeck) Bird. He was raised in Plainville and was a 1971 graduate of Plainville High School and attended Hutchinson Community College.
His career was motorcycle racing, where he earned his nickname, Birdman.
Survivors include two sisters, Constance Von Feldt Victoria, and Janet Kaba Moss, Hoxie.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Plainville City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, Plainville.
Memorials are suggested to the 2021 Rooks Co. Jerry Bird Memorial Motorcycle Races-Rick Werner, First Southern Baptist Church, Plainville, Hospice Services of Northwest Kansas, or Sheridan County Benefit Walk, in care of the funeral home.
