Mary Ann Randa, 86, Liebenthal, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2020, as a result of Covid-19 at Hays Medical Center.
She was born July 8, 1934, in Liebenthal to Bernard and Mary (Depperschmidt) Herrman. She was a 1952 graduate of Schoenchen High School.
She married Marvin Anthony Randa on Sept. 30, 1953, in Liebenthal and they celebrated 39 years of marriage before he preceded her in death Oct. 2, 1992. For 35 years she was the Community Postal Officer at the Liebenthal Post Office.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Liebenthal and St. Ann’s Altar Society.
She enjoyed going places, visiting with people and learning about her Volga-German heritage. She was faithful to God, prayed the rosary, was active in the church and enjoyed sitting on her porch reading a book. She enjoyed her family and looked forward to all holidays especially when she could spend them with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald Randa, Hays, Leslie Randa, La Crosse, and Lyle Randa and wife, Amy, Wichita; five daughters, Linda Gottschalk and husband, Loren , Basehor, Doris Scheideman and husband, Kent, and Nadine Foreman and husband, Steve, all of Haysville, Marilyn Randa, Derby, and Pamela Winkler and husband, Robert, Charleston, S.C.; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Randa, Huntsville, Ala.; two sisters, Elvera Rupp-Mock, Haysville and Alfrieda Dinges, Hays; a sister-in-law, Gloria Herrman, La Crosse; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; her special friend, LaVern Meier, Wichita; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gary Randa; two brother, Wilbert and Richard Herrman; and a sister, Firmina Herrman.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Liebenthal; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Liebenthal.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine, Hays, KS 67601.
A St. Ann’s Altar Society rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Liebenthal in care of the funeral home.
