Rollin L. Lohmeyer, 88, Hays, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020, at Hays Medical Center.
He was born June 23, 1932, in Clatonia, Neb., to Clarence and Emma Louise (Koch) Lohmeyer. He was a 1951 graduate of Beatrice High School.
He married JoNel Diggs on Nov. 24, 1957, in Beatrice, Neb., and they celebrated nearly 58 years of marriage before she preceded him in death Nov. 4, 2015. He worked as a shoe salesman his entire career, starting as a salesman and working his way up to manager at Gallenkamp Shoe Store at The Mall in Hays from 1972 until the store closed in 1986. He later worked in the shoe department at JC Penney until his retirement in 1997. In 1952 he was a U.S. Army veteran and served for 13 months in the Korean War.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed tinkering with his antique cars and Cushman Motor Scooters and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Sue Morelock, Manhattan, Sara Brandt and husband, Larry, Dumas, Texas and Amy Gasper and husband, Troy, Victoria; a sister-in-law, Ida Lohmeyer. Beatrice; seven grandchildren, Megan Pfannenstiel and husband, Tyler, Hays, Madalyn Morelock, Manhattan, Grace Ellis and husband, Brandon, Dallas, Hilary Brandt and Sam Brandt and wife, Felisha, all of Dumas, Texas, Dalton Gasper and wife, Laramie, Victoria, and Dylan Gasper, Hays; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; an infant daughter, Ruth Lee Lohmeyer; and a brother, DeWane Lohmeyer.
Services will be at 10 a.m, Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hays; burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, DeWitt, Neb. Military honors by Hays Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9076 Honor Guard will follow. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, DeWit.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine, Hays, KS 67601 and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home.
